The goal of the Illinois Health Science Career Cluster initiative is to expand career development programs in Illinois by implementing a curricular framework complete with instructional materials and instructional strategies. The Illinois Health Science Career Cluster initiative uses the National Career Cluster Framework and is a first step in the development of a statewide Health Science curriculum model.
During the 2004-2005 school year, the Illinois Health Science Career Cluster is being piloted in three areas of the state. These areas include:
- Eastern Illinois Education for Employment System
- Springfield School District
- Chicago Public Schools
